Got It: Christmas

You've been holding Christmasin your head all year.

Answer a few questions about your December once: when school finishes, what you said you'd bring, whether Santa photos are happening, who you're posting gifts to. Got It works out when each job needs starting and gives you a heads-up that morning, early enough to get it done without a scramble.

Right now, in your head

None of it is hard. All of it has a date.

December is dozens of small jobs, each with a day it has to happen by. Most of them live in one person's head, and that person is usually also the one making dinner.

Got It holds the dates so you can stop running through them at 11pm.

  • White shirt for the concert. Tuesday?
  • Teacher gifts before the last day
  • When does overseas post close
  • Santa photos. Are they booked out yet
  • The stockings with the names on them
  • You said you'd bring dessert
  • Secret Santa, $20 limit
  • Class party Thursday. Something to bring.

How it works

Four steps, and you only do the first one once.

  1. 01

    Tell it once

Switch on what's happening this year: school finishing, concerts, Secret Santa or Kris Kringle, Santa photos, personalised gifts, posting. It only asks about what you switched on.

  2. 02

    See your whole December

Your answers become a plan with dates on it: today, this week and later. Something new turns up? Add it and it slots in.

  3. 03

    Hear about it in time

A heads-up on the morning a job needs starting, and a reminder closer to the day for the ones that need it. Each job comes with a short To do list, so you know exactly what it involves.

    Got ItSun 6 Dec, 7:30

    School concert's Tuesday. White shirt.

  4. 04

    Hand things over

Put someone else on a job. They get an email and tap Got it, and from then on the reminders go to them. You can see when it's done.

The bit you'd otherwise have to know

It knows how early things need doing.

Some jobs need a head start. Got It knows which ones and messages you early enough to do them without a scramble.

Questions

Before you buy

Is it an app?

It's a web app. You open it from the link in your email, and on your phone you add it to your home screen so it opens like any other app. There's nothing to download from an app store.

How do the reminders arrive?

As a notification on your phone at 7:30 in the morning, on the day a job needs starting. Some jobs get a second reminder closer to the day. If notifications aren't switched on, it comes by email instead.

Does the person I hand a job to need an account?

No. They get an email with the job and a button. Once they tap Got it, the reminders go to them. Until then it stays on your list.

What happens after Christmas?

The reminders stop and your list stays in your account, so next year you're not starting from nothing. A year-round version is coming in the new year.

Is there any AI in it?

No. The dates come from your answers and a set of rules about how early each kind of job needs doing.

What if it's not for me?

Reply to any Got It email within seven days and we'll refund it.

Anyway.
